CLOUDS B&B

Who we are

We are Steve and Lorraine Nolan.  We live here in Clouds with our son Archie, our young beagle Chloe and an interchanging menagerie of animals. We try to be as kind as we can be to the planet on which we live, but room for improvement is always there, and that’s fine - it gives us something new to strive for.

We grow our own vegetables with varying degrees of success. We generate some of our own electricity through solar panels on our land and all our hot water to the house is provided by an air source heat pump.

We aim to cut all single use plastic we use ourselves and which we offer to our guests by providing filtered water in glass containers, rather than in plastic bottles, and we provide recyclable bags and containers whenever we can. We’d love to learn from anyone with good ideas about sustainable ways to live, but everyone has their own way, and we respect that.

‘Chloe’ LOVES guests SO MUCH. In fact, she’d gladly leave us without a thought and travel home with you. Please check your vehicle before you leave.

In Spring and Summer, a local crofter sometimes lets his lambs run around our fields as apparently we have good grass. Last year, 2023, we host ‘Herbie’ and ‘Mash’, a calf and sheep, both rejected by their mothers when they were born, they are now inseparable as friends. Our previous hairy sheep pets 'Freckles' and, inevitably, 'Sheepy-Sheep' have been released into the hills for their retirement - we still see them now and again.  Archie would like a Llama soon too - This is not going to happen, though we have talked about pygmy goats.

We love living on The Isle of Skye - It's impossible to go half an hour in any direction without being enthralled by the nature that surrounds us.  It can get a little wild here at times but that all adds to the adventure that is life up here. We look forward to meeting you, hope you love spending time on Skye too and that you enjoy your stay at Clouds.

Lorraine, Steve, Archie, Chloe …. and Louis. Always Louis.  Love you, pesky dog.
